Re: [foxboro] Unique Alarm Sounds

The typical solutions to this are:

1) Use external contacts configured in the horns.cfg file - if the CPs and
I/O are "close" - to drive:
   a) A lamp
   b) Horns
2) Use the audio output jack on the annunciator keyboard to drive speakers
   with different tones per unit.
3) Use a voice package and Event Driven scripts, but EDS isn't fast enough
process every alarm so use the filter option to get the important ones.

I was always curious why GCIOs didn't have some dry contacts for driving
horns/lights, since putting the signaling devices near the operator
consoles is the most common scenario. Of course, with a soldering iron, a
scope, and some Rat Shack parts, you could probably do a little hardware
hacking on the GCIO and rig this up :)

Using a COUT tied to the horn.cfg file sounds like a great idea, only
one problem, my CP's/FBM's are 1000+ feet away. I do have a 1X8 in the
control room where a CP could go but would be costly to purchase a
dedicated CP for only a couple of FBM channels tied to horns.=20
