The latest incarnation of the Foxbor manuals notes that if you have a
GCIO on the box you lose hot unplug/plug capability of devices on the
extender.
I do know that Sun had lots of early problems with the extenders, but
they've released patches that were supposed to take care of the issues.
It might be worth checking to see if Foxboro has tested and released
as a QF or QC the current Sun patch for these USB problems.
We have one of three P79s that experience this problem. Our other two
also have extenders and GCIOs and have not seen the problem.
I believe this to be significantly different than the Motif issue, as I
can see the loss of the kbd/mouse in /var/adm/messages.
