Sort of. We set up a sync to an NT server running NT 4.0 Server,
intending to keep IA tome in line with the time stored in the PI
Historian on the NT. This was messages from IA are consistant with
PI data. A great help in process troubleshooting.
We did this using a piece of software from this Casandra site; set_mtk.
We modified it a bit to adjust the input parameters and it's reporting.
We added a C program to retrieve the time from a remote station using
TCP port 13 (an internet standard port for time in ascii).
Finally we added a script to get the time periodicly, and change the IA
time if IA and NT differed by much.
This works because we don't swing time around by much at any single
shot, and because there is no historian on our IA system. The only
historian they use is the PI historian. To automaticaly swing time
around on a system with the IA historian running would be folly.
I asume the same holds true for FoxHistory and the like.
We do have a programmed bypass if the time difference is too great, mostly
because someone will certainly forget this function exists when daylight
savings time comes around some year down the road. When the bypass
excersizes, or when communications errors occur and persist, we pop up
a window on the engineering Sun console reporting the problem.
Their system is AW51E and WP70 based, currently running 6.2.1. This
function has been in place since August with no problems.
It's been my plan to send my extensions off to Casandra, but time can
be so hard to find....
