If you replace the word "jungle" with "Tropical Rain Forrest" it
suddenly becomes worth saving and protecting ;->>
But a little more serious answer:
In my humble opinion the diffrences between the version 4.3 and higher
ones upto 6.3 are not that severe. Tools nad scripts work basically the
same and the internal system administration of the UNIX used is (at
least almost) identical. 70 Series all have the same NT version so the
same applies here too.
Leaves the different Control station type and Control software versions.
The Foxboro friendly answer would be to upgrade them all to the lates
and greatest, so if I where you I would go for that! But I'm not you.
Software version 6.1.2 > 6.3 CAN run all with the same Control version
software (If I recall correct). This would require an upgrade from the
pre 6.1.2 systemss to this version to allow for the upgrade. The reason
to upgrade you CP10's etc to CP40's could be that you can reduce the
amount of stations to maintain but that largely depends on the
implemtation at your site.
I would like the give the word to the next speaker here.

Ron Deen
