Mark,
There is no programmatic interface to the set functions that System
Management has to manipulate ECBs that I am aware of.
With your AW51 Integrator communication issues. Make sure you are
running the latest 1004797 QF. It allows ECB communication "tuning"
parameters (.TMOVAL and .NRETRY) to be set for a given ECB64 and is
applied for all child ECB65's. These parameters must be set via an
omset script, but now with the latest QF code are properly retained by
the checkpoint file. These parameters don't necessary help with ECB65
failures, but are mechanism to avoid them in the first place.
The important thing that to remember is that ECB65s are able to perform
"block reads", but must perform writes one element at a time. The PLC
processor and how busy it is the rate defining device in the peer to
peer connection. What are the failure codes (PLC_EXT_STAT and
PLC_ERROR_STAT) revealed by Equipment Info in System Management? The AB
Interchange manual can interpret these for you.
If PLC communication is lost for whatever reason, the ECB65 should fail,
on-line. I have never seen ECBs fail to offline. As Ron suggested,
make sure that you have checkpointed with all the ECBs on-line. I have
also seen flaky performance from ECB65s that have been built via an
iccdrvr task scripts rather than through ICC. Can't explain it, it has
just been my observation.=20

Subject: [foxboro] Taking ECBs offline/online outside SysMgt
Hello List,
Does anybody know of any techniques to take ECBs either offline or =3D
online, without using the System Management display screen? Desired
interfaces would be either Unix scripts or sequence code.
The exact issue is the following:
We are using AW51s as Allen-Bradley gateways, and the ECB65s (used to =
=3D
define blocks of Allen Bradley data files) will go offline when
communications =3D is lost to the PLC. When communications is restored,
only some of the ECBs automatically return to the online state.
Currently, the only way to =3D put the offline ECBs online is to use
System Management. =3D20 In short, I am trying to automate and create a
work-around for a Foxboro bug.
Thanks in advance for any help.
