Hi Bill,

No it is not. The Fiber nic's have a modified firmware which allows them to
communicate with I/A's protocol, the comex. The minimum you need is fiber
nic's from Foxboro. Once you have that, however, if all you are going to do is
1 AW and 1 CP, you can actually connect them together without a switch. If you
require more stations, ie, WP's and more CP's then, yes, you will need a
switch, and no, it does not need to be managed, but your system monitor will
not see that switch and show it as failed. Additionally, you will have to deal
with licenses, that is an issue that you and your Foxboro rep will have to deal
with...

Regards,

Normand

We are in the process of trying to set up a in house simulator with a AW
(H91) and a FCP270. I am trying to keep the cost down, so here is the
question: Can I utilize non-standard switches(non-managed) for my
network. My AW does not have Fiber Nic Cards. I was planning on
utilizing a fiber to copper switch. Is this possible??
