Re: [foxboro] Spare I/O points

This sounds like a utility that we could all benefit from.
Are you planning on submitting this to Cassandra?

I'm sorry, I don't have a simple script to determine the spare FBM I/O
points.

Just for your consideration:

Having faced simular questions in the past I've created some scripting which
will output a number of files which we then import into an visual basic
ms-access application. This is completely automated an run's at least once a
day (sheduled or on demand).
The things you can do once you have your CIOCFG, display linking, historian
config, sequence references, DMCplus/AspenIQ references, Aspentech CimIO
(simular to PI), WASP references etc .. all available in a relational
database system !!
One of the things the visual basic import routine does is cheching all
ECB's, creates a list with configured FBM's (including type) and generates
an IO table from this including SPARES ! (also checks duplicate input
usage.)

You want to know on which FBM201 you have spares available? Just run a
query: where type="201" and tag="spare" from IO (or something like that).
This basically is valid for all the above mentioned information: you can run
any query you can think of.

You will need a bit of spare time to write something like this but once
you've got it you wonder how you managed to do without.

Some other features build in:
* Block browser includes pressing the 'block help button' which will
automatically start-up FoxDoc and shows me the doc sheet for that particalur
block type.
* A tree view of block references, includes linking to other blocks, display
refs, sequence refs, hist refs, wasp refs, trendscript refs etc.
Very handy when you would like to delete a block!
* Sequence code viewer when a sequence block is selected in the browser,
pressing the 'sequence code' button. This will read the sequence code
(including included files depending on possible #ifdef''s) and show these in
seperate windows.

(system: 6.3, WP51D's, AW51E's, mainly CP60's)

To conclude: IMHO you can come a long way with scripting but you can't beat
having your data available in ms-access (or equivalente) !
