Here's our procedure that we use in house... these instructions are written
for a person not too familiar with I/A and/or UNIX, so excuse the simplified
tone:
Snapshot to print copies of graphics:
* Get to a VT-100 prompt and type snapshot
* Choose the 8 second wait option
* Choose the option to hide window while snapping
* If you want the beeps to sound choose that option too
* After the shot has been successfully completed click on the view button
* Hit CNTRL-AGAIN to display and save the correct colors (the first bug of
snapshot)
* Goto the File menu and select Save As
* Pick the correct directory
* Name the file
* To pick the correct file type first you must double click on the Sun
Raster type and make sure that when you select a new file type Sun Raster is
not still highlighted
* For printing graphic I choose GIF and then print them later off of
Internet Explorer
* After you have saved the file you must select Open As from the File Menu
so that the file will not be corrupted
* Select the directory, file name, and file type of the file (remembering
the same stuff as before about the Sun Raster files) you just saved and then
Open it
* Quit the Viewer and snap your next graphic
* NOTICE: Files saved in GIF format can be FTP'd from the machine to a PC
equipped with Microsoft Photo Editor, a good tool to adjust the image to
your liking. This altered image can be entered into power point to create a
very helpful presentation. This power point presentation can then be printed
very easily to Tweety or any other networked printer.

I've written up a procedure for using snapshot off of Solaris boxes and
transferring to tif files. Anyone who wants it, send me a request off line
and I'll send it to you. (BTW, the colors look screwy on it until you
import it as well, just like Alex said.)
I've not used imagetool. Anyone out there with instructions on how to use
it?

Esteban,
This may not help you if you don't call up remote Displays from
your AW/WP51's, but if you use Hummingbird on a PC you can hold down the
"Alt" key and then press the "PrintScreen" key and it will capture the
selected window as a bitmap image to the paste buffer. It can then be
pasted into any document or graphic program for modification or
printing. If you use "Shift - Printscreen" it will capture the entire
desktop with any windows that are open at the time. The colors will
look exactly like the screen unless you save the file in a different
format. I usually save them as .GIF's which are much smaller filesize
with only minimal differences in color. Hope this helps someone out
there. We often use the "Printscreen" capture to document software
application procedures graphically.

I need to capture some screenshots from our AW51/WP51.
Played a bit with 'snapshot' and 'imagetool', but the best I could get
is a
.rs file with 43 colors (according to Image Tool View -> Image Info),
which
renders a useless image.
Can anyone tell me how to get screenshots?
Thanks in advance
