Joseph,

I think people started posting ways to get to the sh window since they 
assumed that your redirecting failed because you had an MS-DOS cmd.exe 
and not the Korn shell. :)

-d is for redirecting the dump output (i.e. what you get with the GET, 
LIST etc. commands), while -o is for the ECHO, DONE, FAIL, etc. lines.
