We have had a service contract since back in the Fox 1A days (that's
one-A) and go through a review and justification process every three
years at renewal time. The Foxboro contract is a significant part of
our maintenance budget so it gets a lot of scrutiny. It has always been
our experience that the contract is of good value when compared to the
cost of replacement parts without a contract. Also, the overnight
availability of parts allows us to virtually stock no spares (another
big cost savings). The other big value is the availability of our local
service group. Although they are stretched quite thin, they are always
there in a flash if we have an emergency situation. We have had a very
good relationship for many years. I find TAC pretty good although I
know a lot of the good people and also have been doing this long enough
to know how to ask the questions.

Subject: [foxboro] Service Agreement
Good Morning,
We are in process of negotiating our new Service Agreement with
Invensys,=20
and as we do every 3 years, we are struggling with understanding the
value=20
we receive from this agreement. How many of the Users on the list have
an=20
agreement with Invensys and do you feel it is a good value? For those
that=20
do not have an agreement, have you had any issues that you feel could
have=20
been handled better with a service agreement? We have had an agreement=20
since 1993, but have always struggled that the money may be better spent
in a different direction.
Thanks in advance for your ideas,
Ricky Cash
