Subject: [foxboro] Serial Communications to Spec200, SMS satations vs.
Foxboro computer gateways
In an attempt to migrate our DEC VAX to a new HP Itegrity server
(Itanium Open VMS) we have found it extremely difficult to interface to
the Foxboro Spec200 DCS.
To that end, we have heard of several instances of the foxnet
communications from a supervisory level 2 computer system interfacing to
SMS stations via serial communications for setpoint downloads and
actual data uploads. We are looking for detailed information as to how
this was accomplished including protocol, device settings (baud rate,
parity, data bits, stop bits...) Any information on this subject would
be greatly appreciated.
If known, we would also need to know what changes would be required on
the SMS stations such that the stations would recognize this new
communications path as the primary communications method.
Thanks in advance,
Tim Johnson
