Since release of V8.4.2 self-hosting choice runs about 50-50
Anytime a single CP270 is installed from off the shelf it should be NOSUCH'd
unless installed with an already running Primary module...If host is available
..it's checkpoint file takes precedence over self-host if differneces are
detected.
As a speed test..try booting the self-hosting CP without the host
available...obviously no contest..

Hi
We tried self hosting in our test lab
It did work but we didn't see any gain for us.
Things to note
The mesh connections to the CP are still needed for it to boot.
The auto checkpoint makes the CP very busy.
You can have a CP sitting on the shelf with control logic ready to run.
The Boot wasn't dramatically faster.

Subject: [foxboro] Self hosting FCP270, ready for prime time?
We are in the process of installing new I/A equip (P92, fcp270, fbms
incl FDSI, etc.) and s/w (8.4.2) in a somewhat remote (often unmanned)
utility control room. We are interested in implementing the 'self
hosting' feature of FCP270 (not depending on download from host in case
of power loss, reboot), but have heard rumors that this feature was not
quite 'there' yet.
What are other users (site personnel & field service reps; i.e. not
sales) real world experience with this relatively new feature? Any and
all input would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks,
