Re: [foxboro] San Antonio Wrap Up Final

Dave,

I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to write up your thoughts
on the conference for those who couldn't attend. I also want to thank
you for hosting the Cassandra session on Tuesday night. All of the
feedback I got was very positive. The effort you, Duc, Jeremy and
Winston (I hope I didn't forget anyone) put into the Cassandra Project,
for the good of the users, is really appreciated.

Regards,
Terry

Subject: [foxboro] San Antonio Wrap Up Final

Hello everyone,

The dust has settled, and I had a few reflections on the User Group=20
Conference before I move on to other things.

1) Always great to see everybody. Too bad a few of you couldn't make
it,=20
but the overall turnout was very good. I don't know the exact numbers,
but=20
looked to be one of the better attended conferences.

2) Foxboro has gotten its act together. You may, or may not, like all
of=20
the platform decisions that have been made, but at least they appear to
be=20
final. Foxboro people were on the same page on technologies going
forward.=20
(XP rulz!)

3) Foxboro had some real products, that were really there, that really=20
worked (CP270s, FSDIs, IACC2, Foxdraw 10, etc). Now, how we get our=20
systems to a rev level where we can use them is another problem.

4) ArchestrA took it's rightful spot in the background, as little more
than=20
some middleware for Invensys products. Way too much emphasis was placed
on=20
this in Orlando in 2002. ArchestrA may be the best thing ever, but I
don't=20
think other vendors are going to rush out and adopt it anytime soon.

5) Security is going to be an ongoing concern, and before it's all over=20
there will be some minimum government guidelines that will have to be
met.

6) It's fun to watch the Red Sox with a bunch of drunks from Foxboro.

Good job to the event organizers, Trish Davenport, Kathleen Quinlisk,
Terry=20
Deo and the steering committee, et. al. Well planned and executed!

Good job to the poor folks from Foxboro who had to take the customer=20
abuse. Too many to mention, but if you were there, thanks.

I now return you to your religious war, already in progress.

Regards,
David
