Re: [foxboro] Restricting the operators access to PID blocks

In case you could use SSC (which is, according to the SSC manual, the best
solution for any supervisory program to write MV's) you can do great things
in combination with customized faceplates.

We use SSC for APC (DMCbridge) and, in another case, through an OPC
interface (IAconnect).
Our PIDA/RATIO/AOUT faceplates have an SSC indication/button which becomes
visible in case the BLKSTA.SE bit is set. When the operator toggles this
button the PIDA.SE bit is reset and thus the loop switches to the fallback
mode as specified with the PIDA.FLBOPT (typically; local/automatic but
sometime remote/automatic). He then regains control to the PIDA.SPT.
If the supervisory program is programmed correctly the switching on or off
of SSC is bumpless.
