If you used the 'backup' script the correct script to restore is called
'restore' and not 'restore_8MM'.

Also, in addition to Scott Landry's response, if one of the machines is an
Ultra-30 (E) and the other is an Ultra-60 (E1) then to get it to boot you
need to modify/replace the following:
1.) The kernel file /etc/system
2.) The /etc/path_to_inst file
3.) The /etc/opt/SUNWmd/md.tab file
4.) The meta device partition needs to be loaded for the appropriate
machine.
5.) If it's an external drive, a device alias is required in the NVRAM and
the boot device set to it.

This is quite an involved process, but it can be scripted to do the
conversion from loading in the contents of a floppy disk and running a
script.

  Is your spare a Ultra30, Ultra60 (360Mhz) or Ulta60 (450Mhz) ?
  You can tell by the command
  psrinfo -v

  What is the Ebox that is on online in use ?
  a Ultra30, Ultra60 (360Mhz) or Ulta60 (450Mhz) ?


  Only Eboxes of the same type can be restored to one another !

I need help...

 I made one backup of my 51EW (solaris) in tapes 8mm (file system dump =
0).
 I restored this backup for a machine spare, using the command =
restore_8MM, the restoration has success,
 however when I go to restart the machine spare, it is botting in loop.

what I made of wrong ?
