Because people are either clueless or lazy. Or worse.

There are instructions to unsubscribe in the footer of *every* list=20
message -- so they have to be either too dense or too lazy to scroll=20
down to see them and to click on the link. It's much easier to=20
broadcast to the entire list their cluelessness, I guess.
