Assuming you aren't going to pull a cable (the best solution). I can
tell you that several projects have used the Modbus Device Integrator
image from the IPS I/A Series Device Integration
(iasdi@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) group running on DI30.
The software from this group can handle things like non-standard Modbus
protocols and radio keying.
A friend of mine used it with a radio link to a platform on Lake
Maracaibo in Venezuela.
DI30s are somewhat scarce these days, but it should work if your I/O
supports Modbus and you put in a radio link.

Subject: [foxboro] Remote I/O
Hello list,
I would like to get suggestions on the integration of some remote
I/O.=3D20
Scenario: We have a pumping station (CW Pumphouse) which is located =3D
approx. 1km from our Power Plant which pumps cooling water to the =3D
condensers of our steam turbine generators. There are between 100-200 =3D
I/O pts. (pressures, temperature, contacts, levels).
Question: What is the best means of implementing/integrating a Foxboro =3D
I/A system? We currently have two units running on version 6.3 and AW/WP
=3D
51D's.
Note: No line of sight due to buildings in between.=3D20
I would appreciate your suggestions and hearing of your experiences.
Regards,
Nigel Baptiste.
