Re: [foxboro] Remote Exceed screen Updates slowly

You are welcome.

Since RTFM (Read the Foxboro Manual) is tough given how many of them
there are, I thought I might mention a tool that I really love. It makes
answering questions a lot easier.

I keep copies of our documents (not all but a lot) on my laptop and I
use X1 to index my hard drive. X1 is incredible.

It gives a very high density display (think spreadsheet with a row for
each item and column for fields related to the item) and offers great
searching and filtering tools. Plus, it's preview capability is amazing.
It handles hundreds of file times in its preview pane.

I got it back when it was free as Yahoo Desktop Search, but I can tell
you that I'd pay the $50 USD of my own money if I had to do so to get it
for the next machine. You can see it here - http://www.x1.com.

There is a similar (and free) tool called Copernic that one friend of
mine likes better, but I really prefer X1's HMI. Copernic is here -
http://www.copernic.com.

I've used Google's desktop search, but it does not compare. Given its
low density display, lack of filtering, and no preview capability.

Is anyone else using these or similar tools?

Display update rates can be controlled by the dmcfg file and the
specification of the DM type.

Subject: [foxboro] Remote Exceed screen Updates slowly

Hello all knowing list members!
I am moving numerous Exceed X trerminals over from an AW51C box to an
AW51G
with 7.1.1. Screen values on the local console update quickly. Screen
updates on the remote Xceed boxes take about 5-7 seconds to update.
There
are no values smurfed. It just seems to be slow. I believe somewhere on
this list there was mentioned a parameter setting where you could change
the update speed. Note that I also have the same version Xceed boxes
working well on a version 7.1 install.
Thanks!
