Re: [foxboro] Remote Draw Applications

Hi all,

This was quite a discussion!
What it comes down to is that in order to work with Foxboro apps via
anything X-like (be it VNC with its own Client Server approach or the more
UNIX like solutions like eXceed and Reflexion etc (which are X-servers on
the Windows platform):

-The package of choice should have a way to incorporate the Foxboro fonts as
a fonts directory
-You should be able to work with 256 color mapping
-or: to have true color support you must have the "Server Visual" set to
"pseudo color" for the X-server.
EXceed did not get this working (for Foxboro anyway) until version 6.0.1.
As far as I know Reflexion works
-To support the "remote draw" functions the server must support the
functions
"backing store" and "save unders" and these must be switched on the max!

Sorry Stan to do this just when you were feeling much more comfortable I
sure hope it helps a little :-(

Just when I think I've uncovered all the dusty little bits :-)

I remeber RFS, it was a better idea, that was unable to displace the
de-facto standard.

Thansk for educating me on this. I feel much more confortable now.
