Re: [foxboro] Remote Display Builder/Configurator problem

Well, I found my own solution. I gave the remote user rights to the
display files via group membership, and everything seems to work.
Apparently DB/DC drop privs before saving files; good (an error message
would be nice, though :) Still haven't figured out the stealth process
thing, but I guess I don't need to now.

Hello all,

I'm trying to set up a remote login to an AW51E that can run Display
Builder and Display Configurator. Everything appears to work; I get a DM
just fine, the Display Builder and Configurator come up from the menu, etc.
The only problem is that display file edits are not being saved (and no
error message is being generated, either). The login is a non-privileged
user, but the DB and DC are set-uid processes that run as root (at least,
when I can see them...see below), so rights should not be a problem. Any
ideas?

As a side note, when I invoke DB or DC from the DM menu, I see the process
as dbu or dcu, respectively, and with a PPID that indicates it is a child
of the DM. If you switch to Configurator from inside Builder, or vice
versa, however, there is no longer a process for it -- at least not one
called dbu or dcu. No more children exist for the DM, either. Anyone have
a rational explanation for that?

TIA,
