Re: [foxboro] RV: Open loop alarm

If you set the SCI to the proper value (4-20ma) and set the BAD option, you
get the described behavior for 4-20ma signals. This has been true since day
one.

On which version of I/A does this happen? Open loops on analog outputs
are not detected on any version I've used up to 7.1/CP60, even with the
BAD option set, on legacy or 200-series FBMs. I remember being quite
surprised at this, as it is a standard feature on the Honeywell AO blocks
I used before coming to I/A. It would be nice to have.

Open loop alarms are handled as Process Alarms and not Equipment (System)
alarms. As such, they are enabled by setting the BAD Alarm Option on the
block and specifying the alarm destination.

If the block has BAD alarming and alarm destinations set, the CAD will
show
the message.

Hope this helps.

Hi list,
There is a way to send an alarm to System monitor when =
analogs
outputs loops are opened? We couldn't find something related in I/A =
Docs.
We recently had a plant shut down because a control valve failed and
closed. Until now it hasn=C2=B4t been discovered the cause. We have =
several
hypothesis, having an open loop alarm could help to figure out what was
wrong.

Thanks
