Re: [foxboro] R: AB30FT and Control Logix PLC

Hi Davide,

Thank you for you prompt answer....

What the customer wants is a system totally redundant: 02 AB30FT, two
KFs-2 and 02 PLCs in redundancy mode....
The problem is: to have this configuration is necessary to have one DH+
module at PLC side: so looking at PLC side we have: three racks: one
with one PLC, another with other PLC (this guarantee different powers
redundancy) and the DH+ module located in another rack...=20

This configuration doesn't work with I/A. The only way to communicate
with PLC is moving DH+ to the same rack of PLC. But in this scenario
according AB people the redundancy of PLC will not work....

The explanation is: for I/A works, is necessary that PLC be located at
slot 0. The PLC 2,3, 5 and SLC05/04 have this characteristic. All are
located at slot 0....
Regards,
Suzi

Suzi,
I was involved in setting up communication between I/A and Control =3D
Logix, but with FBM224 (modbus), not AB30FT.
The problem we faced was that, by default, communication is REDUNDANT, =
=3D
not FT. In other words, every time only one line can reply to DCS =3D
queries.

What is the configuration of your Control Logix?

Hello.

Has anyone set up communication between AB30FT and Control Logix PLC in
Redundancy configuration ?

AB30FT communicating with only one PLC works fine.. The problem is when
we have 2 Control Logix.

Has anyone tried this?
Any other suggestions? The customer is willing to change hardware if
necessary to keep the original idea that was to have PLC in redundancy
configuration "talking with" our System.

Thank you

Suzi
