PTA is one of the major raw material for Polyester Yarn & Polyester Fiber.
And we (i mean Reliance Industries) happens to be one of the largest
manufacturer's of Polyester in the world. Polyester yarn process is very
similar to PET production process, except that molecular weight & intrinsic
viscosity is different.
PTA comes from Paraxylene which in turn comes from naptha, and last from
crude.

Okay, so it's not an I/A Series question, but you guys probably know.
What is PTA? What does one do with it? Is it especially dangerous/hard to
work with?
Anyone have a PTA plant?
