For that particular parameter, check out the PSS (product specification
sheet) on the PIDA block. It has some good info, some that isn't in the
block description books.
I agree, though, that some of I/A's best features go un- or underutilized
because of poor or lacking documentation, and no available training. I
have yet to use a PIDA to its full potential because I haven't had time to
sit down and play with it to see how the advanced features (self- and
adaptive tuning, mostly) behave, and that's the only way you are going to
know. There is no training class on it to my knowledge, and the docs do
not go very deep into application examples.

[foxboro] PIDA Foxboroese ???s
We have been working on some PID and PIDA loops and the manual on these
blocks are somewhat marginal. They use what we like to call "Foxboroese".
Some of the Block descriptions are full of "Foxboroese", things that only
apply to Foxboro systems, commonly opposites of other DCS systems (or they
opposite of Foxboro) and cannot be Goggled or researched in any other way.
I would like to find some more info out on the interconnections on these
blocks and how it is all tied together. Is there a manual or book out on
these besides the Integrated Control Block Description Volumes? The one
that comes to mind is SPLLAG. Is this tied to the set point as a gain
before it gets to the loop or does the set point make it in and then it
takes effect, or may be something else ????
