Pramod The OPC connectivity is currently being used for State Based Alarming and Audit and Enforce. We use the icc driver task to role in changes decided upon following the documentation and rationalization phase of an Alarm Management Project, or what we call implementation phase. The changes during implementation are, block descriptions, priorities, alarm text, group assignments, alarm destinations and no logic changes or deletion's. These are done manually by the customer and are typically not under the scope of an Alarm Management Project. Diego would be more then willing to field any additional questions. I don't know the answer to your question. You might drop a line to Diego Izarra. He does Alarm Management work for a living. diego.izarra@xxxxxxxxxxxx Re: ICC API That's reasonable for making changes and matching it with UPLOAD allows you to check for changes. I don't know that PAS supports that, but it is something that I would do. I understand that Invensys also supplies Alarm Management System using PAS systems. Is the OPC method generally adopted by Invensys to make CP database change? In one of my earlier AMS projects (not with PAS), I used ICC driver task to make bulk changes to CP. Basically, the OM is slow for one-shot gets of values and one-shot sets of values (a few (<10) per second). We worked to minimize the number of one-shot gets by moving them to read lists. To minimize this impact, I recommend that the AIM*OPC DA Server be run on the AIM*Historian host machine since they will share OM lists though this may or may not be helpful depending on the other tags being monitored. So, you must consider the loading impact on the CPs. Older CPs may not have the capacity to support this application; CP270s typically will not have issues, but you need to check even in that case. To determine the loading impact, you will need to work with PAS to determine the increase in load. Loading factors include: 1) The number of parameters monitored using read lists 2) Update rate for the read lists 3) The number of parameters acquired using one-shot operations 4) Update rate for the one-shot operations We have CP sizing spreadsheets that can be used to help model the impact based on this data and they are available from the Global Client Support folks (http://support.ips.invensys.com). All in all, it's not whether or not their software works. The question is how well does it work within the restrictions of an I/A Series system. You will have this issue regardless of vendor so do your homework.
