You are exactly right Andreas. Since Microsoft had no concept
of a multi-user operating system from the start, they believe it is only
fair to charge users, per user, when they try to create one to catch up
with UNIX functionality. They also think it is only fair to invalidate
previous application licenses with each new version of OS. Sounds like
Foxboro's strategy with FoxView from nodebus, to Version 7.x, to MESH
workstations;<)
Paying for a license three times for the same application still
infuriates me. Changing from an OS that openly allowed multi-user
access and ultimate remote flexibility to one that charges you for every
user and access point is also infuriating. Using a spin-off of Ron
Schafer's email and Microsofts add campaign:
What do you want to "pay for" Today?

Please keep in mind that MS changes the license details nearly every
year!
You have to read everytime again the license agreement.
