Hi Mark,
thanks a lot for that information.
I had yesterday a discussion with a Foxboro salesman and I've to repeat
it again:
It is very important to get more information about the Hardware,
Operating System, I/A version and I/A applications that are supported or
not.
A customer finds only some pieces in the lifetime report and not all.
examples:
- There are no information how long P81 will be supported.
- There are no information about the consequences for the case that the
AW51? is obsolete. Is there only a hardware replacement necessary or
also another operating system included or ...???
Customers uses usually third party applications that require a specific
operating system.=20
Customers in chemical plants needs more information in advance because
they have only every 4 years a plant shutdown. A missing information
like that the new PC requires a little bit more space can result in
30.000 EUR additional costs for new cabinets.
Another thing is that the customer has to call Foxboro to get support
instead that the sales guy checks his sales list from the last years and
recognizes which customer has which old hardware that needs to be
replaced.
Regards,
Andreas
