Re: [foxboro] P0914XB baseplates need to be replaced, Upgrade info request

Thanks for the heads up advice on the gateways.

If you have a login to the Foxboro Global Product Support, you can find =
the
baseplate information by searching <CP60 to CP270>,
if you do not contact Foxboro or myself to get a copy.
It is a big disappointment, but better to know up front than during =
re-start
after a turnaround.

Although we have not done a similar upgrade (yet), we do have some
experience with COM30 Modbus and FBM231.

I can only advise you to make sure to get well informed about the
differences between COM30FT and FBM231. A one-on-one replacement is =
(IMHO)
far from possible!

Some items to watch for:
- are all your slave devices dual-ported redundant. If not, you might =
have
to use an FBM230!
- Modbus request are assembled automatically in an FBM231 (have not =
heard of
a new Modbus driver yet). If there are 'gaps' in your modbus =
register/coil
addressing in your slave devices you might not be able to use FBM23x =
unless
you are able to 'fix' these gaps in your slave devices.
From this community list you can find that other users were severely =
bitten!

At some point we will be faced with a very similar upgrade as you are
planning. I would sure be interested to here the story on the =
baseplates. If
what you describe is true that would be a real disappointment!
Our baseplates were installed somewhere around 1998/1999 so I guess we =
would
have the same problem.
