This does seem to be overlooked. It is very easy to gain root access
to a standard
Foxboro install of Solaris 2.5.1. These boxes should NEVER be put on
an unprotected
network. This has been stated over and over on the list and from
Foxboro. I think
people are more apt to hook up the Windows stations to their desktop
networks via
the 2nd ethernet ports than the Sun stations, but both are mortal
sins. ALWAYS use
some sort of firewall. I am not so much concerned with security
updates as stability and
function. The Unix boxes are more stable and offer more features.
The windows offering
is just not there yet.
