From reading the posts, it sounds like a DCM from Siemens=20 > TXP. What is the standard symbol for this? And Jeremy Milum wrote: > It is a General DEVice block. It can be used for valves, motors, pumps, etc. To which Chuck Jones adds (humbly): Previous to this block (and still in existence) are more blocks for specific digital devices: MOVLV for motor driven valves MTR for motors VLV for pneumatic valves The GDEV (I've often wondered if "Generic" DEVice block might be more descriptive) block combines these different blocks into one generic block. This combined functionality is an asset when sequence blocks have been written for years when a digital device of one type is replaced by another. (We recently changed one very large pneumatically operated digital valve with a motor driven valve without having to change the sequence code because the controlling block, a GDEV, did not change.) Another advantage--especially for beginners--is that you can get by with learning one block instead of several. =20 =20 I hope you like the your new system. The rest of us here really like it (pretty much all of the time!).
