Yes, we do this whenever possible, at least on all production systems (delivered to clients, not for internal use). It's recommended to install the IEE Galaxy and the application server off platform (say not in the mesh) as it can happen that on-platform boxes don't respond to SysMon heartbeats during periods of heavy database activity while doing deployments or bulk generation processes. This is independent from the "don't-enable-multicore-CPUs"-issue.
