Re: [foxboro] OPC Server

Brian,
On the Invensys side, we have some OPC expertise spread throughout the
continent. Mainly due to the MS-Windows DCOM issues that most of us have had
to deal with any time we touch the thing. However, Tony DeHaas at CSC is the
guru who usually gets our questions and he should be able to recommend
someone. (You may want to get your Account Manager to look into it)

Although the latest AIM OPC 3.3 User Guide is quite good, you may get into
problems with off-platform XP SP2 or Win-2003 Server SP1 hosting PC's (as
Ayoub mentioned) that we (Invensys) are just realizing and working through
and have yet to be documented formally. (The expertise aware of this through
CSC, though)

Did you have someone account for network security/architecture when you
scoped the AIM* OPC Server?

Do you have an idea what OPC client will be used and where they are (remote,
local on the OPC Server PC)?

Subject: [foxboro] OPC Server

We are installing an OPC server on an AW51B box at 6.1. We purchased the
OPC stuff from Foxboro. It's AIM* OPC Server 3.3. Any words of wisdom,
issues or stuff we need to know? Who might be the Foxboro OPC god?
Thanks in advance,
Brian Long
