Hello Pat,
there is a special OPC-Server called "I/A-Connect" from Invensys Germany =
that supports SSC. It=C2=B4s for installation on AW70 only (NT4/XP/Serve=
r 2003) and runs with I/A Versions 6.1-8.2. It=C2=B4s directly based on O=
M and independent of Fox- and AIM-API. We have several installations were=
SSC is used.
Contact me off list if you want more information.

Betreff: [foxboro] OPC & SSC
=20
Hi all,
=20
=20
Anybody out there who has used Supervisory Setpoint Control by means =
of OPC?
=20
=20
=20
We use the DMCbridge which works great with SSC but now need to imple=
ment an
other application which needs to talk to I/A through OPC. I was hopin=
g we
could used the standard SSC methods.
=20
Is there any documentation available (apart from the SSC B0193RY manu=
al)
which specifically addresses the OPC/SSC combination?
=20
=20
=20
I am completely new to OPC so I don't know what it can/cannot do?
=20
=20
=20
For SSC you need to be able to set/read the status bits (.LHI, .LHO, =
=2EINITC,
.ACK etc) in/from parameters like .BLKSTA, .SUPBCO, .SUP_IN.
=20
Also 'single shot write' to the .SE parameter should be possible.
=20
=20
=20
Can you do all of these things with OPC ?
=20
=20
=20
Another related question:
=20
The SSC 'control group' 'span' is limited to the CP it is configured =
in,
right?
=20
You would need to 'cascade' the control group by linking if you would=
want
the control group to 'span' multiple CP's, right?
=20
Example: I could have 2 individual applications both using control gr=
oup 1
as long as all control blocks for applic. 1 are in CP1 and all contro=
l
blocks for applic. 2 are in CP2?
=20
We've used up all 8 control groups already but this new application w=
ill be
dealing with completely new CP's.=20
=20
=20
=20
Thanks in advance for your, highly appreciated, feedback.
