Re: [foxboro] OPC

It seems no one else is responding so I'll give it a try.

Getting OPC data out of I/A:
Foxboro has an OPC Client which is I/A AW70X based. This is usually intended
to retreive data from another system into I/A and use that data in your
Control.
The AIM*OPC Server (partly Matrikon) is IMHO your best bet to get data from
the I/A system to the outside world.

The Foxboro AIM*OPC Server supports OPC 1.0a and OPC 2.04 for DA and 1.0 for
HDA.
Works great (but you could suspect me of beeing a little biased maybe) and
very easy to implement

We are in the process of evaluating some third party programs to
automatically monitor the performance of a control loop and to alert the
appropriate personnel when there is a problem so the loop can be re-tuned.
Is anyone else doing this? What has been your experience with these type of
programs?

The preferred approach of the vendors we considering to getting data out of
the I/A system seems to be through OPC. Are you using OPC, and if so,
which driver are you using, Foxboro's or third party? What has been your
experience with it?
