I stand somewhat corrected. There is no port of Ethereal for Solaris 2.5.1
on sunfreeware.com; there is one for Solaris 8, but it is an older version.
Ethereal's web site says that it also supports Windoze, so I guess you
could run it on an AW70 if the I/A nodebus driver supports promiscuous
mode.
Having said that, though, I've always run it on a laptop under Linux or
FreeBSD. You can hook it to one side of the nodebus using a DNBT. I bet
that modern PCs have enough horsepower to capture both sides of the nodebus
simultaneously, using 2 NICs and 2 DNBTs. Or you can use 2 PCs.
It's not hard to get going, but I generally have to have the user manual
out every time, because I use it so infrequently.
Corey
Thanks for the info. Could you give me a few details on how to set up
Ethereal. Can it run directly on an AW or can I load it on a pc and tie to
the node bus?
Brian
