I have the same in my netmask file.
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 255.255.255.192

...But when you specified the different hostname.xxx for B/C and D boxes
below, it reminded me that I am using a AW51A.
Yes a 51A, an oldie but goody, still runs like a top, if you don't ask it
to do too much.

I did get everything working, but I had to resort to a startup script.
...Maybe the network configuration is different on a 51A.
Next week I will try another box (AW51B). Hopefully that one will work
without resorting to a script.

Thanks for the help, and have a good weekend all.

      -Regards, Brian

Brian,

I think you're making it too hard. But then again, I learned things the
hard
way too. For /etc/inet/netmasks, here's the only line that's not a comment
in my netmasks file:

xxx.xxx.0.0 255.255.248.0

(The x's are in there at the insistence of the company that writes my
paycheck.)

If it helps others, here are the files I modify to make my second Ethernet
interface work:

/etc/hostname.le[123] for AW-WP51B/C, depending on what's needed
/etc/hostname.hme[12] for AW-WP51D, depending on what's needed
/etc/defaultrouter need to create this file, contains IP addr of
router
/etc/resolv.conf need to create this file (see 'man resolv.conf')
/etc/nsswitch.conf add 'dns' to the hosts line
/etc/inet/hosts add IP address and name of 2nd Ethernet interface
/etc/inet/netmasks add subnet mask (see 'man netmasks')
