JetDirect print servers support LPR. which we use; works fine for
everything we do (printing text files, ICC printouts, screen shots). You
could probably cook something up with netcat or something to use raw TCP
to port 9100 (the normal JetDirect method), but we have never had to go to
that much trouble. Sysdef does not really provide the capability to
implement a printer that is not physically connected to an I/A station, so
we roll our own, but it is not that hard. I haven't fully documented the
process, but I can send examples of the files we modified if you want
(off-list).

Does another solution exist to print on a network printer without
jetadmin/jetdirect ?
