We had the same problem. The bad part is that it just hung, it didn't go
to a blue screen, so the "reboot on crash" option you can set in the
computer properties would not work. I missed Alex Johnson's presentation
at the user's group on why Windows is the best path forward for Invensys
and its customers, but I'm guessing that "you get to reboot your boxes
once a month" was not mentioned as a benefit. :-)
We've since swapped our NT AW70 for an XP one, and it has run about a
month and a half without incident. We had planned to do this, and so
never tried to find a solution to the lockups (but I will if this XP box
starts locking up). I did put SP6 on my NT AW70, to allow me to install
Rockwell's RSLinx, but that didn't fix anthing. I'm glad it's only an OPC
gateway.

Subject: [foxboro] NT on AW70 Hang
Dear guys,
Does anyone know the preventive action to avoid CPU hang on the
AW70 which use WindowsNT Service Pack 5 operating system?
Rebooting the CPU once a month?
It's almost never happen on our AW51 which use Unix operating system.
Thanks
