I agree with this.  The .NET is a framework of libraries, etc that can
be used by programmers. Installation should just install the ability to
use .NET    It should not replace any capability of currently running
programs nor should it replace any current libraries on your system.

But that is the theory and I have never loaded it onto an IA system.
Also remember that it is free !
