Re: [foxboro] Moving old shell scripts to the new 8.3 Windowsbox.

Re: We have MKS/Nutcracker on these
All I/A Series Windows workstations have a release of NutCracker. From 1995
until the release of V8.2, it was V1.6.

V8.2 (and V8.1.1 on P91) updated it to V8.3(?).

The QF brings it to V9.1a

Re: We are at 8.3 w/QF10008892B

I recommend the MKS QF especially if you see odd script behaviors. For example,
I had lines like this fail:

VALUE=`/opt/aos/exe/aoGet -V A:O.A`

And raise dialog boxes while doing so.

Very irritating.

We have the MKS/Nutcracker on these. I think that is why it looks so easy. We
are at 8.3 w/QF1008892B ???

If you are running V8.2 or later or P91s at V8.1.1 or later, you should
consider upgrading your MKS/NutCracker software using QF 1009515.

You can map a printer to LPT1 and then copy the file to the printer from
within your script.

" net use LPT1: \\server\printername "
(space required between the colon : and the double backslash \\)

"C:\copy file.txt LPT1"

Subject: [foxboro] Moving old shell scripts to the new 8.3 Windows box.

We are moving from a 4.3/51B system to the 8.3/P91s.

We have a couple of scripts that run to generate and then print the
shift reports. This system has worked great for years....

Now when we move it over to the windows box they tell me we will lose
these (non Foxboro = no support) scripts.

I have set up the correct folders and files on the new box. I need to
set crontab (crontab is what trigger them on the old system) to trigger
them, and change the script to do a windows print function instead of
the lp -d function.

What am I missing, this seems too easy, and what is the windows print
function ???

Thank you for your support.
