Re: [foxboro] Moving old shell scripts to the new 8.3 Windows box.

Larry,
In the Windows world there is no crontab.
I have not tried anything on 8.3 yet, but the following worked at IA 7.1.

You must use the Task Scheduler unless you buy third party. In the task
scheduler, you specify the user name that the Batch file (.BAT) will run under.
I used "Administrator" since "fox" would cause a window to pop-up on the screen
when something was executed. With "Administrator" nothing appears on the "fox"
screen.

I assume you can get the report built as a file under windows
(D:\path\path\your_report). This might be difficult but I can't help you here.

Once the report is built you can build a batch file (.BAT) that calls WORDPAD
to open your report and print it. You will have to open WORDPAD manually (once)
and specify a default printer that works.

Contents of Batch file

C:\Program Files\Windows NT\Accessories\Wordpad.exe /P D:\path\path\your_report

Objet : [foxboro] Moving old shell scripts to the new 8.3 Windows box.

We are moving from a 4.3/51B system to the 8.3/P91s.

We have a couple of scripts that run to generate and then print the shift
reports. This system has worked great for years....

Now when we move it over to the windows box they tell me we will lose these
(non Foxboro = no support) scripts.

I have set up the correct folders and files on the new box. I need to set
crontab (crontab is what trigger them on the old system) to trigger them, and
change the script to do a windows print function instead of the lp -d function.

What am I missing, this seems too easy, and what is the windows print function
???

Thank you for your support.
