Re: [foxboro] Moving XP box from 7.0 to 8.x

Tom.....what Dell type box do you have?

First....you absolutely need the dual NIC's to install and run V8.x.
Second...the Dell Restore CD you are using (depending on it's vintage)
probably doesn't have the Drivers for the Allied Telesyn Nics....so there is
a separate CD for the NICs as part of the V8.0b software.
Have you used that CD?

All that said...be sure and select two NICS during the install process.

Subject: [foxboro] Moving XP box from 7.0 to 8.x

We've been glad to hear that several users have already implemented the
ATS at Ver.8.1 to integrate their Nodebus/CBLAN with the MESH network.
We are attempting to do the same but have run into a few roadblocks and
questions. Any help is appreciated from knowledgeable Foxboro folks or
Users that know the answers.

1. We have received the Ver8.0B day0 software and Ver.8.1 upgrade. We
used a Dell box that we bought for use as a Ver.7.1 AWXP and did the
following:
A: Used the Dell CD Restore Disk that came with the original
AWXP PC from Dell/Foxboro to wipe out the old Ver.7.x software that we
had previously loaded.
B: Renamed the PC Computer name to our Ver.8.x SysDef configured
name, (30AW01)
C: Rebooted and placed the Ver.8.0B Day0 CDROM in the CD drive
and ran setup.exe
D: When prompted, installed the Committ Disk that we created
from SysDef by using the Ver8.0 Media distribution disk 10091
E: After successfully loading the commit disk the PC requests a
reboot. When the PC reboots it tries to load the Foxboro applications
and before it completes that function the PC shutsdown and reboots on
its own. This is a continual reboot cycle. We read about the
GPS/timestrobe continual reboot and have insured that our Ver.2.7 SysDef
configuration doesn't request these functions, so were pretty sure that
isn't the culprit. We do still have the Version 7.0 prescribed 3-Com
NIC installed at this time but had similar results when we tried to use
the two Allied Telesysn fiber NIC's that we will need to connect the new
Ver.8.1 AWXP to the Mesh switches. We aren't sure if this is a NIC
problem or a problem with Foxboro specific configuration that is on the
BASE XP Restore Disk that came with our Ver7.x system.
        Any help will be appreciated.
Cheers,
Tom VandeWater
