Agreed, IACC is probably better, especially on new installs. The reason
most of us are not migrating to IACC at this time is that it appears
Foxboro IEEE will eventually replace IACC. Nobody wants to waste the
learning time curve transitioning to IACC when IEEE is the future???

After 9 months of intense experience with IACC, I can say that I'm
pretty
satisfied with it as a reasonably modern user interface improvement over
ICC.  Improvements include:
      - Windows style copy/paste of individual parameters
      - Insert/delete/copy/paste steps in CALC/CALCA blocks
      - Copy/paste of entire "CSD's" (loops)
      - Ability to connect parameters graphically (we don't do this too
often)
      - Ability to connect C:B.P from pick lists (helpful to avoid
typos)
      - Search "Where Used" (needs a lot of work, but it's better than
nothing)

ICC just feels clunky to me, and it has for years.  The keystrokes
needed
just feel "wrong".  IACC is much smoother.

We left the bulk-building tasks to our Foxboro project team and have
carefully avoided using any template-type functions on the live system
since the completion of FAT.  Our training on IACC left us a little
spooked
about the damage that could be done with these tools.  Obviously, the
use
of any bulk-building tool on a live system carries significant risk.
However, our IACC training left all of us (6 people) in the class with
the
feeling that the template functions were counterintuitive in various
ways.
It's been a year since I trained, so unfortunately, I don't recall the
details.

From what I've seen, I would still use ICC if I had a v8 system.  IACC's
features do not outweigh its drawbacks in my mind.  Maybe (hopefully)
IEE
will be better.  But then again, I looked at a Rockwell ControlLogix
presentation yesterday...the PLC is growing up fast :)
