Re: [foxboro] Moore Controller Tuning into I/A

David,
I may have misunderstood, but I interpreted the questions as being:
How can I take my tuning parameters for a Moore PID controller and apply
them in the Foxboro I/A Series DCS?
The answer to this question lies in the model used by the Moore PID
algorithm. If it uses a series (interacting) algorithm, this is the same
algorithm used by the Foxboro I/A series PID family. Unless there are other
differences, you should, with reserve, be able to directly transpose your
tuning parameters.

It looks to me like the tuning parameters can be just the same for I and D
(interacting controller) with PBand=100/PG (Proportional Gain in the Moore
system)
Take a look at FB13 from this manual.

Please make sure you take in to account the possible differences in units as
the tuning in the I/A series DCS is normalized within the PID block.

If for some reason, you find out that your are faced with a non-interacting
algorithm, for your personal info, here are the equations I had noted down
from previous experience with the subject:
Non-Interacting this side/Interacting this side
Pb =                        PBand/1=(D/I)

I =                         I+D

D =                         1/((1/I) + (1/D))

Or once you have you I(ni), find D:

D = DI/I(ni)

As far as the non-interacting mode of the PIDA block goes, lookup the
descriptions for MODOPT = 6 or 8.

Pertinent references are:
B0193AX for the PIDA block MODOPT parameter descriptions and controller
algorithms Course 2101, Continuous control which studies amongst other
things the PIDA blocks tuning parameters in greater detail.

Hope this helps,

Subject: [foxboro] Moore Controller Tuning into I/A

Hello all,

Is there any type mapping from a Moore Products electronic single
loop controller PID tuning parameters into I/A?

Sorry, but I do not have the model numbers of the controllers handy
at the moment.

Regards,
David
