Whatever you do, don't use Flex I/O thermocouple modules in conjunction with
Micro I/A. If you have any unshielded thermocouples communicating with Flex
I/O and Micro I/A, the Micro I/A's will mysteriously crash whenever they
feel like it. This has been happening to us for the last 4 years. After
several attempted software fixes by Invensys, we are finally giving up (if I
can get the money approved) and removing the Micro I/A's.
I also heard in Orlando that Micro I/A as a technology has reached the end
of the line and will no longer be developed. Invensys is going with a new
line of FBM200 series modules that talk Profibus, Modbus, HART, FF, and
other protocols that will be replacing the functionality of the Micro I/A.

Subject: [foxboro] MICRO-IA
Group,
Anyone using MICRO-IA?
We are looking at it for several low end applications and are
wondering
what kind of issues or problems have been encountered.
One application that we are looking at is Communication with AB PLCs
on
Solar Turbines. We are currently using AB Stations and would like to
move
to the MICRO IA if it will work.
All input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Troy
