Wow, so Linkflap can turn off ports without giving a message or somehow =
advising that it has happened?

For the 14 days in the log, there are 14 instances of "1DSWA1   Station =
Rebooted/Reenrolled" some 2 per day, some 0 per day, 7 once per day.  =
The message (in time) nearest the re-enroll was 36 minutes old.

Tom, does switch 1DSAW1 only use ports P01,  P04,  P27 and P28, the =
ports listed at the same time as the reenroll?

How do we know it was Linkflap and not one of the other conditions that =
can cause the message - given that Tom would certainly know if a station =
rebooted.


Tom, was there any OOS or anything to indicate the communication was =
lost between stations from a Process point of view?

Tom,

It looks like Linkflap is being triggered on the switch (taken the port
down for a default of 5 minutes) due to excessive link transitions on
the devices attached to the switch.

As Andreas commented, the Reboot / Reenrolled can occur on reboot of the
host of the smon  (or re-start of smon process.)  The grouping of
messages about the same time stamp (11:34:07) would seem to show that
one of these events happened.

Reboot / Reenrolled  can also occur, if the station (switch) has not
been in communication with its smon host for a specific time period.  In
the non-mesh IA, that time was 1 minute (no comms for 2 - 30 second
periods.)

The mesh smon may have changed the time period as 30 seconds is way too
long for a switch. The RSTP (spanning tree) is supposed to switch the
path when you get a defective switch, in less than 1 second so I would
hope the new time period is about 1 second but I have not seen this
written up anywhere, yet.

All Knowing List,
    Are there any MESH Switch guru's or users out there that have seen
anything similar to this on a system?  All of the SYSMON messages
shown below are extracted from a system that is not being manually
manipulated.  To my knowledge a MESH switch cannot be rebooted from
System Monitor but we see messages saying that the Station
Rebooted/Reenrolled.  It appears that there are errors generated when
the System Monitor loses site of the Switch it is trying to monitor.
Nothing bad appears to be happening in terms of intermittent data
loss.  I'm curious to know if anyone else is seeing weird stuff like
this with their switches in System Monitor.  Thanks for any help or
info.
