This indeed bad news, to the tune of a few thousand $$, if true. According
to the information we have recieved, this is AP50 requirement, but not
an AW/AP51 requirement. More research is in progress.
According to the AW 51 license deescription, J0173DA,
"The Application Workstation 51 Operating System Software License
Includes: Memory Management, Object Manager, File Management,
Interprocess Communications, Error Handling, Scheduling Networking
Capability And Utilities, And Support For Disk Mirroring Of
Foxboro 50 Series Hard Disks, Real Time Operating Display Software,
And X-Window Support. "

According to B0193ND, System Administration, chapter 5
When a disk drive or a SCSI bus fails, the Online DiskSuite software
detects the failure and issues appropriate error notifications to the
standard Solaris software running in the AP/AW. Foxboro monitoring
software (put in place when Disk Mirroring is configured) also receives
these error notifications and, in turn, takes corrective action. Most
of these actions are transparent to you. The action you do see is an
error notification (via the System Monitor) describing the failure.
The error messages take the following form:
Standard Error Messages header (that is, time, date, letterbug, subsystem)
MDMON: MD_MONITOR: meta database delete on <XXXX> on <YYYY>
etc.
And I thought I remembered there were messages on that last big Foxboro
job I was on. Maybe not.

True. A different dft is installed, along with some other stuff.
More later.
