Yes that is true. We have to install Java on an AW51E1 running Foxboro's Offsite software from Baarn Holland. The Offsite software is written in Java. For Solaris 2.5.1 we install java 1.2.2_05a. I could not say that Java would be sanctioned if installed for other applications outside of our Offsite software. The guy who posted the link to his "CALCview" CALC block software claims on his web site that there is a Foxboro-sanctioned way to put Sun's JRE/JDK on an AW51. He listed 4 patches you have to download from Sun and install, however, which gives me pause. Can anyone from Invensys shed any light on this? Does Invensys approve of a Java install on an AW51 running Solaris 2.5.1?
