Re: [foxboro] Invensys can use the list.

Here, here!! This has been the most productive and useful user
forum I have ever been involved in. (Special thanks to the founding
fathers!) It keeps all of us honest with minimal to no censorship.
Users can share experiences with common problems that have not yet been
solved, (and not advertised), by Invensys. Work-arounds can be
suggested with no liability from the user community or Invensys. The
users let Invensys know what is really important to them and Invensys
employees can comment about or correct any user rumors or misconceptions
about the products they currently support. =20
Alex regularly provides insight on future applications and
products and is hopefully getting useful feedback that can help him in
setting future direction. I count Alex as a visionary that recognizes
the value of such a list to both users and Invensys and there must be
others within Invensys that agree or he would probably be censored from
participating. There are other regular contributors such as Russ Boulay
that are directly involved in the TAC organization that must see the
list as a valuable forum also. One note can reach hundreds of people
throughout the globe and you never know the full impact you might be
having on someone out there. I am pretty verbal, or as David Johnson
once called me, a PKP, (Prolific Keyboard Pounder), but there is a
silent majority that uses the list to obtain valuable information and
insight. I can understand Invensys not giving any formal recognition to
the forum but it doesn't make good business sense to forbid
participation in it.
Cheers,
Tom VandeWater

Here's the latest statistics on the foxboro list:

Total subscribers: 859
Unique domains: 325
Countries in TLDN: 32
Foxboro addresses: 223

Echoing David's note, I appreciate the inputs from the many active
posters from Invensys, but those are a mere fraction of all the Invensys
people on this list. And I know they are on here not to smirk at all the
problems we customers have, so there must be some things tangible they
try to gain by lurking on this list.

(I surely hope that it is not the official company's stance to
arrogantly think that it's shameful for Invensys people to ask a
question on this list.)

I, for one, have learned a tremendous amount from the information traded
back and forth on this list, and it's all free. Can't beat it!

But apparently you are allowed to lurk, judging by the number of
Invensys
addresses on the list. So I hope no one is too upset about your post.
The list is here for everyone, and the whole user community gains when
questions are asked and answered here. Applying the old adage "none of
us
isas smart as all of us", as well as Alex's "free advice is worth what
you
pay for it" -- well...Caveat emptor. The email list has become a
valuable
tool to many of us. So by all means ask TAC, and ask here as well. If
the
answers differ, let us know. But, I don't think it shows any deficiency
to
use all of the tools that are available to you. There are some pretty
sharp
people out there, and not all of them work for Invensys.=3D20

David
