Re: [foxboro] Installing new printers

Add your new printer to /etc/printers, but be careful and observe the format
in this file. Each line goes something like this:

printername (pad with trailing spaces to 6 chars if necessary), TAB,
printertype (4 chars, pad with leading 0), TAB, description (pad with
trailing spaces to be exactly 24 chars)

(If it's a laser printer, use type 0002. If it's an inkjet, use type 0006.)

I don't think you have to reboot for this to be effective. But you know the
drill if that's not the case.

Subject: [foxboro] Installing new printers

Sorry to ask another question about printers. Mr. Ricker was kind enough
to post a script recently that enabled me to print a text file from an
AW51B to a HP8000 Laserjet printer via the 2nd ethernet port. This was
done through the Unix command line. Now my question is how do I tell the
I/A system that this printer exists? I want to print Foxboro daily logs to
this new printer. I looked through a lot of Foxboro books for this
intormation but couldn't find it. If you could tell me how to do this or
point me to the appropriate section of the manuals I would sure appreciate
it. Thank you.
